PERSONAL CARE

  Ear Care After Ear Piercing

1. Cleanse: Wash hands before handling the ears or earrings. Three times a day squeeze several drops of ear care solution to cleanse the skin around the hole and the earring post.
2. Turn: Turn earrings three times a day by holding onto the clutch, this helps to prevent the post sticking to the newly grown skin.
3. Check: Earring back should be firmly attached to the post. Earrings must fit loosely for proper air circulation and proper healing.

Keep the pierced area dry and clean, especially after hair washing, swimming or exercise. Cleanse your piercing after any of these activities.

  Beware of Bacterial Infection

Redness, pain or swelling is not a normal result of piercing. If any of these conditions exist more than 24 hours after piercing, please remove the earring and consult a physician.

  Earlobe Piercing

If slight discomfort exists, check if the clutch is too close to the skin, pull it back to ensure proper air circulation. Continue cleansing with Ear Care Antiseptic (increase frequency to 3-4 times / day), the condition may correct itself. If condition persists or deteriorates, remove earring and consult a doctor.

  Cartilage Piercing

Since the cartilage area has a minimal blood supply, an infection in the cartilage can quickly become serious. If condition persists more than 24 hours, remove earring and seek medical advice immediately.

  Prevent Early Closure of Hole
Earrings must be worn continuously during the entire healing period. Six weeks for ear lobe piercing and 12 weeks for cartilage piercing.

Protect your Piercing During the Healing Period

1. Stay away from potential contaminants, e.g. use another ear to receive a call
2. Take extra care when brushing, washing hair or removing clothing over head so that earrings don’t get caught.
3. Exercise care when participating in sports to prevent injury to the ears.
4. Avoid using perfume, hair sprays or any irritating chemicals around the holes.
5. Do not remove or replace earrings before the end of the healing period as it may cause injury to the hole and result in infection.

Care of the Hole Piercing after the Healing Period

1. Once the holes are formed, you will need to wear earrings continuously for a period of time to prevent hole closure

  • Earlobe piercing: for the first 12 months, do not go longer than 24 hours without earrings.
  • Cartilage piercing: for the first 24 months wear the earrings continuously unless you take it out for cleansing purpose.
  • 2. To maintain the hole in good hygienic condition, cleanse the earrings, posts and clutches with ear care antiseptic before wearing and after removal.
    3. Wearing heavy earring accessories for long hours should be avoided to keep the hole delicately small.
